Something to work on

This is part of my effort to develop some useful skills. Only possible because I basically have a personal trainer overseeing and assisting every single step.

This quilt will have a brown biding (with slender cream leaves/flowers on it). The blue polka dot fabric is going to be the backing as well as the trim on the front. Should I just use white trim instead so that the polka dot is a fresh, entire new look?

Can you tell it is for a boy?

girl...I wish I had those skills! I am so jealous of my friends who sew!

I like the blue polka dot. I am so impressed! I haven't tackled any real quilting projects yet. I really love the fabrics you chose!

Michelle, me too. I don't sew. These are just the pieces all cut out and arranged together. And I thought the cutting part was hard (I cut big squares). I just hope I don't become America's Funniest Home Videos-worthy when I freak out trying to sew in a straight line.

Sarah, Walmart for all the prints and ebay for the Dick & Jane.

Wish I had some advice on this, but I'm totally inept at anything crafty. Good for you for giving it a shot. Can't wait to see the final product.

Can I make a request for you to do a post about Obama and his foreign policy. My husband and I always enjoy reading your political posts. You seem to have a way with forming our thoughts into amazing words we can't seem to formulate.

Very cute, and yes it is obviously for a boy. I too am impressed. I thought we went to law school bc we had no real skills.

I am proud of you for your efforts! There is a lot of satisfaction that comes from doing a project like this. It looks really cute and boyish! Love, Momo

I love it! Boyish in a perfect way. I think one of these nights I am going to join you all in your quilting, because I am currently working on a quilt (working meaning there are 2 pieces of fabric and some batting folded up on top of my filing cabinet) and need Holly to show me how to do binding! And hand-quilting! I haven't even asked her about it yet, so I hope that works out.

So back to the point, I like your quilt. I would probably do brown binding. Lately I am trying to incorporate a few darker colors into my kids' room because it is mostly pastels and brights. Anyway just my opinion.

Although I have a mother who can quilt, sew, crochet, knit, etc...like the BEST of them...I cannot do any of the above. I am very impressed!
